Summer Break at COF

A dormitory building at the Children of Faith Home in Visakhapatnam India

It gets very quiet at the Children of Faith Home during the summer break which is May to June. These can be the hottest months in Andhra Pradesh, so its relief for the children to be out of their school uniforms. The children go back to their extended families, some traveling as long as 6 hours by bus. The children look forward to this break from the school routine and they can relax and reconnect with family and friends.

Its a busy time for the Anand Thandu and the staff of the home as it gives them a chance to deep clean the classrooms and dormitories, and to do maintenance work, electrical, painting, plumbing projects, and repairs. A few children will stay to help and some may return early if their family situation necessitates. The Children of Faith Home is usually such a boisterous, busy place, its quite a change to have our halls and rooms so quiet.
