Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our recent 20th Anniversary Celebration raised the needed funds to replace our cooking facilities. We plan to build a large kitchen with sanitary facilities to prepare meals for the 120 children in our home. Our cooks never expected to have an opportunity to work in such a modern kitchen and are thrilled to learn about the improvements the new kitchen will have.
We plan to have spacious storage and refrigeration, allowing us to buy groceries more efficiently saving staff time and money. There will be a dish washing area, separate from food preparation. The dining hall will have hand washing stations for the children and sturdy tables and chairs. The boys and girls will eat separately, as the guidelines for Children’s Homes requires in India.
Kitchens in India are usually very small, so I think the new kitchen will be a surprise for the cooks.

Meet our cooks, Janaki, Ammaji and Simhachalam. They prepare 3 meals a day for 120 children plus our staff. That’s more than more 120,000 meals per year! They are remarkable, they care for our growing children by providing delicious nutritious meals.
