Independence Day is celebrated in India on August 15th. This public Holiday commemorates India’s Independence from the United Kingdom on August 15th, 1947. Much like in the United States, Indians celebrate their independence with flag hoisting, parades and celebrations. Children of Faith observed the occasion this year by raising the flag and singing patriotic songs.
A special meal was served and the children enjoyed a day off from school and homework.
In addition to playing games and relaxing to enjoy the day, the children received their new school uniforms. This includes new shoes, socks and belts along with the shirts and dresses or pants. This is very exciting for the children, they couldn’t wait to show off this year’s “look” for school.
The children write their name in everything to prevent misplacing or mixing up the uniforms.
Your contributions make special celebrations like Independence Day possible
Your donations to our general fund make special celebrations possible. Our sponsors help us feed and clothe the children and provide tuition for college students, but we rely on donations to our general fund for the special extras that make Children of Faith feel like home. We couldn’t keep transforming the lives of young people in India without these additional donations, please help us however you can.
