Daniel Shyam will always be with us in our hearts

With a heavy heart we want to inform you about the passing of Daniel Shyam on June 7th.  He was in 2nd grade. A very cheerful, happy young boy. He gave us a lot of joy. He loved Jesus and singing songs. One of the teachers told us Daniel was an excellent student and was a quick learner. He loved his COF family and his mom said would always talk about his time here.

We still can’t believe this and are completely devastated – including the children, teachers and staff. The family is having a hard time.

He was from the tribal villages where hospital facilities are very minimal. Due to the COVID situation at the time, all our children were back with their relatives in their home communities. When Daniel became ill, his family was not expecting it and thought it was a normal fever. He stopped eating and drinking for a few days. His blood tests showed he had both Malaria and Typhoid, but by then it was too late for effective treatment (Malaria is very deadly in some rural communities). We are continuing to support his family during this sad time. Please pray for his family – his mom, dad and sister and many relatives. His cousins – Ananth and Vishnu also study here at COF. We will miss Daniel very much, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to know him and have him at our home for 2 years, and now forever in our hearts.
